The Environmental Commission was established for the purpose of studying and making recommendations to the Mayor and Council with respect to: the preservation of open and green space; control of all types of pollution; disposal of wastes; protection of the soil and landscapes; the management of water resources; the protection of the aesthetic flora and fauna of the Borough.

The Environmental Commission has dedicated its efforts towards the conservation of precious open and green spaces, as well as the natural and historic resources of the borough, within the framework of maintaining a safe, healthy and vibrant community where people want to live, work, play and raise a family.

The Environmental Commission meets every third Monday (except for December), at 7:45pm. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Complex, 12 Mercedes Drive, Montvale, New Jersey.

You too can be a concerned citizen and pay attention to environmental issues.

  • Please make recycling a habit.
  • Dispose of household products properly.
  • Bring your hazardous wastes to the County’s Hazardous Acceptance Station. (The time and place for collections of hazardous materials are announced in the Borough’s Newsletter.)
  • Clean up oil and grease residues.
  • Do not dispose of any materials into the storm drains.
  • Clean up all chemical spills appropriately.
  • Clean up after your dogs and cats.
  • Please stop littering.
  • Leave every place cleaner than as you found it!

These are just a few of the environmentally conscientious activities in which each and every citizen can easily participate. Planet Earth will be grateful!
