Snow Plowing Information

Snow & Plowing

Every year we all shovel our driveways, and then... the snow plow comes by and blocks them in again. While we certainly cannot completely eliminate this problem, there are some tips that can minimize frustration. They are:

  • Think and plan ahead the day or night before an expected snowfall.
  • When the snow is on the way, get ALL cars and vehicles completely OFF THE STREET. Park so that the first vehicle that has to get out is the last one parked in the driveway. Doing this will also give you less snow to shovel to get the first vehicle out.
  • When shoveling snow, always pile the snow behind the curb and not on the road. NEVER throw snow in front of the curb, because this only assures that the plows will plow it back in. If you hire someone to do your shoveling, suggest to them that they do it YOUR WAY!
  • TAKE IT EASY. Shoveling snow is very hard work. Just when you think you are almost done, along comes the snowplow and it deposits some snow at the end of your driveway. By working together we can do a better job more quickly for EVERYONE. We can help each other if we use our collective smarts!
  • SNOW PLOWING MARKERS CAN BE PLACED ALONG THE CURBSIDE OF THE PROPERTY TO HELP PREVENT PLOW DAMAGE DURING SNOW FALLS. MARKERS CAN BE MADE OF WOOD, METAL OR PLASTIC. MARKERS SHOULD BE ABOUT 36 - 48 INCHES IN HEIGHT.
